Would a Kicker 12" SoloX sub and Kicker Kx2500.1 amp kill my alternator if i only use a 1 farad capacitor?Would a Kicker 12" SoloX sub and Kicker Kx2500.1 amp kill my alternator if i only use a 1 farad capacitor? I have a little ford focus (2002) but ive got right now a kicker L7 12" and its bumping hard and im going to install my capacitor soon but i was wondering if my car will be alright holding up against the SoloX and its massive power consumption, any advice or hints? The cap will have little, if any effect. Forget the capacitor, will only hurt your system in the end.And I'm sure that altenator in your focus won't be able to handle 2500rms without upgrades to your vehicle. You would need to do the "Big 3" upgrade first http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp~TID~73496~PN~1 maybe a high output altenator and maybe some batteries.Peace. ok, first off you are listing two different subs you have your l7 solo baric 750 rms and you have the solo x which i believe is 2500 rms so which one is it? if its the solobaric, then you will be fine as long as you dont use all the amp only turn it about a quarter up and no more, you will fry that sub been there done that, it wouldnt hurt to get a cap, no harm unless you charge/ discharge incorrectly. take a volt meter to your battery when your system is playing and see what the lowest voltage is, and i believe its anything below like 11 or 10 volts at your peak power usage you will need a better alternator or a backup battery/ cap Auto parts : Throttle Shaft Bushing Acura 1995 . How likely is it that I could have done permanent damage to my car? How likely is it that I could have done permanent damage to my car? So I bought a car that was running ver low on oil. It was running fine when bought it, and the mechanic said I could drive home and when I got a chance take it to him and get the oil changed. So I was planning on doing that, except my car's battery died, and it wouldnt start. I jump started it yesterday, and I heard a knocking sound comming from the engine, similar to the noise diesel cars make. Since I had jump started the car, Iet the engine run for 10 minutes parked in my garage, however, I did not revv it beyond 2000 RPMs and didn't drive it. I have asked about this already, and I have been told it could be a rod knock, I looked what that was online and basically shattered me in pieces to find out it's such a big problem. I just bought this car for school and dont have money to buy a new engine or buy a new car. I am hoping and praying to God that I can solve this problem by putting new oil in and using one of those Lucas additives. I was wondering, since I didnt revv the car too much, could the engine have been damaged badly? I am hoping to get at least 50K miles more, at least to make the car worht what I paid. It has 88K miles and it is a 2003 mitsubishi eclipse 2.4 L 4 cylinder. thanks car insurance. Auto parts : Tire Lubricant Jaguar 1997. Tire Marker Jeep 1998. Ram . Where Is the Oil Plug on a 1997 S10?The S10 is a compact pickup truck manufactured by Chevrolet between 1982 and 2004. The 1997 model is a second generation truck with a 4.3-liter, V-6 Vortec engine. It was offered as both a two-wheel and four-wheel drive. Routine maintenance on the S10 includes changing the oil every 12 months or 7,500 miles, whichever comes first. The oil drain plug is located under the engine in the oil drain pan. Preparation To access the oil drain plug, you will need to raise the front end of your 1997 Chevy S10. Drive the truck up on ramps or jack up the front end and support it with a set of jack stands. Be sure to set the emergency brake and chock the rear tires. Location The oil drain plug is located on the bottom of the oil pan. The oil drain pan is bolted to the lower part of the engine block. You will need to slide under the front of the truck to locate the plug. The plug screws into a recessed area toward the front of the oil drain pan. Specifications The oil drain plug is a M12 x 1.75-inch-thread autograde bolt. The head size is 14 mm. If the plug has been replaced, it may be 13 mm or 15 mm; in any case, the length of the bolt should be no more than 30 mm. The oil drain plug must be used with a matching M12 rubber gasket. The plug and the gasket can be ordered from any automotive parts store. How to Remove Place a drain pan under the oil pan. Loosen the oil drain plug using a ratchet and socket or a box-end wrench. Use a rag to protect your fingers from hot oil and turn the plug by hand. Push up on the plug as you unscrew it to minimize the amount of oil that will leak past the threads. When the plug is almost out, move your hand out of the way of the draining oil. Be careful not to drop the plug in the drain pan. How to Install Make sure the gasket is in place on the oil drain plug and thread the plug into the hole in the oil pan by hand. Tighten the plug with a ratchet and socket or a box-end wrench. Do not over tighten the plug, as this can strip the threads of the plug and lead to leaks.
Ram . How to Install an Outboard Lower UnitMarine outboards have two basic engine sections: the upper unit and the lower unit. The lower case contains the water pump, propeller shaft and gears, along with numerous seals, tubes and a shifting mechanism rod. Some outboards have long-shaft designs, where others have short-shaft designs. Lower units can be small and lightweight, as in the case of a 10-horsepower engine, or they can range up to the truly powerful and heavy 200-horsepower engines. Whatever the configuration or size, lower units all have a basic design that make them good candidates for removal and installation. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need Floor jack Helper Wire brush Carburetor cleaner Rags Anti-seize lubricant Boat owner's manual Socket set and wrench Torque wrench ScrewdriversSuggest EditsItem AddWhy is it necessary?Done Step by Step : 1 Position the engine in the full down profile, if attached to the back of the boat's transom. You'll need the lower plate surface of the upper case horizontal, with no perceptible tilt. Adjust the electronic trim selector or manually pull the tilt bracket pin out of the adjustment notch on the motor and set the engine to a horizontal plane. Reinstall the adjustment pin. For safety, disconnect the negative battery cable, if so equipped, and remove the key from the ignition. 2 Clean the lower case mounting bolts with carburetor cleaner and a wire brush. Depending on the model, you will have six to 10 bolts. Dab the end of each bolt with anti-seize lubricant. Make sure the mating surface between the upper and lower case has no scale, oxidation or salt crust on the metal. If equipped with a vertical water tube, make sure it seats firmly on the bottom end, pointing up. Make sure the top slot and the seal for the tube have been cleaned. 3 Raise the lower unit with a floor jack and a helper if dealing with a large engine. Set the lower tail shaft of the lower unit on the spoon of the floor jack and gently pump the handle on the jack to raise the unit up toward the upper unit case. While your helper pumps the jack and holds the unit in place, guide the drive shaft up into the upper unit case, making sure the splines on the shaft align in the slot. Turn the propeller to turn the shaft so that it mates. 4 Align the water tube so the top of the tube fits into its slot. Hold the lower unit case about one inch from the upper unit case and look inside for the shift connection rod. Use your fingers to pull up on the lower rod so it approaches the upper shift rod. Place the rod coupler around both ends of the rod and align the groove. Install the small screw bolt into the coupler and tighten it with a socket or a flat-head screwdriver. 5 Have your helper raise the lower unit up higher until it is flush with the upper case. Start the mounting bolts by hand, nudging the unit back and forth to make the alignment. Use a socket to tighten the middle bolts first, then fan outward for the rest. Finish tightening the bolts with a torque wrench, according to your boat owner's manual specifications. The total costs should be repeated in the Totals column. 0 Totals: All the charges in the previous sections are repeated and totaled in this column. You pay the final figure. In addition, every invoice should have a space for 0 a written estimate and 0 a number where you can be reached if necessary. You'll be asked to sign the estimate. Be sure to read the small print above 0 the signature line before you sign. The small print should cover only your approval of the estimate and the fact that you're willing to allow the technicians to drive your vehicle in order to test, diagnose, and repair it. The reverse side of the invoice often contains information about the shop's warranty and the mechanic's lien, which allows service facilities in some states to sell your vehicle if you refuse to pay for services. For this reason, if a dispute occurs, you should always pay your bill and then seek restitution. As I mentioned earlier, credit cards really come in handy in these situations. To get satisfaction, be sure to read the section called "Complaining Effectively," later in this chapter. Ram . How spark plugs produce high voltage?
